My main problem with BC2 had more to do with the fact that on the PC it still felt like a console game. It didn't really impress me graphically, I had strange stuttering issues at medium settings, and the FOV issue was a big one for me. That BF3 is being developed for PCs first and consoles second is a good sign (for PC users). Bad Company really felt like a tie over to the main deal which will be BF3.
I didn't enjoy the latest Bad Company game so much but I have higher expectations for this new Battlefield. The tone (no corny jokes, documentary style audio) feels just about right, although I'm sure it will still be gloriously over the top, just like the previous Battlefield games. Definitely on my radar.
Usually on the home stereo (CDs) but coming to Turkey this time around we had to sell off all of our stuff which couldn't come with us from Melbourne, which meant the stereo is gone. Our CDs and books got boxed away and are in storage at mums. Always wanted a really great (physical) music collection but I'm too nomadic to really accumulate a lot of music. We will go into town today to look at hi-fi but I don't even have decent CDs to test right now. No music... nothing to play it on.

PS. I have a friend who's a mad muso with pretty strong philosophies on music (he believes that everyone has an ability to be musical, if you can talk you can sing, etc) who told me once that if he ever became Prime Minister his first act would be to send every person in the country a kazoo in the mail. Not really sure if I'd vote for that, though.

Tbh, the only rap albums I've ever bought were when I was really young and into actual rap dancing with my friends. I do think though the charge of rap being crap comes mostly from exposure to the kind of stuff which is designed specifically to shift units. Commercial rap and hiphop is mostly toilet paper music, imo. But it's impossible to slog off a whole genre like that. Melbourne has a great hip hop scene- and there are rappers within that scene who just blow me away every time I get to hear them. And it's mostly entirely 'musical', with real instruments and a real enthusiasm for all kinds of different music from all over the world, getting reset into a hiphop context. That's what's great about hip-hop... those guys will just take stuff from anywhere.
If you listen in a particular way, you can pick out the melody in a rap performance. Heck, there's even melody in this...

I'm not saying it's a good song or anything, but melody is there- it's just in an unusual form that differs from people's normalised associations about melody. What is there is strange melody- and hearing something strange is a hard task.

Not sure what advice I can give- but I too know what it's like to be a little shy. If your shyness is female related, then as long as it's not a crippling shyness, I don't think that's too much of a problem (as far as the girl's concerned, you might be kicking yourself though over the endless 'lost opportunities')..
At some point you just need to honour your own feelings about someone and lay yourself on the line...
